Hello my lovely paid subscribers! I hope you’re all well, and I also hope you didn’t mind me going on for so long about Vampire Killing Kits last week. I clearly never mend my ways, though, because I’m about to go off on another tangent.

I recently came across these plain little silver and enamel cufflinks while rooting around on the Butter Lane Antiques website, and it turns out they have an unexpectedly interesting and fun backstory! What I assumed were the initials of some unknown person or persons — perhaps a wedding gift? — are actually nothing of the sort. They’re the initials of a short-lived but shockingly successful English fraternal organization called the Ancient Order of Froth Blowers (AOFB).
