While I love looking at theses astonishing and frequently magnificent objects, I am obviously in the wrong social class - I don't suppose any of the buyers are worrying, as I would, about how to keep the glass furniture clean!
I remember seeing a knock off rhinoceros desk in a gallery in San Francisco in the early 70s. It was more like the modern one, just lifted up to show the desktop and I think it was covered in leather.
Thank you for the snail nest print! It made my day. That owl is adorable too.
No, for real! Schlumberger and Bongard were childhood friends who met up by chance on Fifth Avenue in NYC after both fought the Nazis in WWII. (Bongard was captured but escaped while he was being transported to a concentration camp, and Schlumberger survived Dunkirk.)
Bongard was the business guy who kept the studio running while Schlumberger designed. They each had long-term partners - Bongard was married to his wife for almost 50 years and Schlumberger's lifelong partner was the photographer Luc Bouchage, who he met during the war. Extraordinary people!
"...because it's awesome."
That about sums up the edition!

Lol, same. I'm forever thinking "who's gonna dust that?"
"Horked" is an awesome onomatopoeia. And yeah, I would have chosen whale too. Yikes!
That owl though...love!

Oh, I'm so glad you loved the snail, too! I'd never seen it before and instantly adored it. The tiny spade!
Woodlice = slaters
Slaters!! I've never heard that one!
The desk! A rhino!
