Darwin studied eels! An enduringly mysterious creature. I read of it in the Book of Eels.

I just looked up that book and it sounds amazing; I'm ordering it! I LOVE that Darwin was skiving off med school - eels would strike me as a far more interesting diversion, too.

Well, as an Alice collector my heart stopped for a brief moment when I saw those printing plates. Personally, I think that estimate is waaaay low, and I'm super curious to see what happens with them. If only I was a lady of means ... *sigh*. Plates aside, that Faberge mosaic brooch gives me the grabby hands. I need that in my life!

Holy cow! But yeah no surprise really. I'm curious who acquired them. I kind of hope it went to an institution and not a private collector.

Yes, or at least somebody who will be willing to loan them out for exhibits. Fingers crossed!

Ugh, I'm DYING for those plates. It will definitely be interesting to watch what happens with them! Something like that must be so difficult to ballpark.

Wow, that horn swallows comb is magnificent. But the best part is using "ethered" as a verb. Steeeeealing!

Ha, go right ahead! Isn't that comb gorgeous? So simple and elegant.
